Required Summer Read for WCHS English Honors I
Honors English I Summer Requirements: Freshmen
The summer reading assignment for all upcoming freshmen for the 2015-2016 school year will be Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None.
Students will not only be expected to read the text but also ready themselves for collaborative discussion about the novel. Students should be aware that it is not enough to recall items or persons and plot from a text; they need to take the next step and question and analyze the novel within group and whole-class discourse.
Students should be encouraged, regardless of which semester they are assigned English, to be ready on the first day of school to take an exam on the reading since schedules often change, and this way students will not be caught off-guard or unprepared. Even if their schedule changes at the last minute, students will still be held responsible for taking the exam and discussing the novel.
Beginning June 8, copies of the novel will be available for checkout from the front office of WCHS by Ms. Sheila Pederson. Students who do not return their assigned novel will be responsible for paying a fee.
